5 Steps for a Daily Body Care Routine
Feeling the effects of the daily grind? Life certainly goes by fast and finding time for yourself is a daily challenge! Yet, giving yourself a few minutes every day to pamper your skin and take care of your body brings many benefits, like feeling beautiful (or handsome!). So why deprive yourself?
Here are a few tips for creating your own body care ritual.
Step 1: The right hot bath (ideally, every day!)
What if, tonight, you treated yourself to a nice, hot bath instead of a quick shower? You deserve this royal treatment, a special self-care moment after a long day!
- For complete relaxation, choose a water temperature between 35 C and 40 C, depending on your preference.
- Dim the lights to create a calming mood. Light scented candles and play soft music.
- Add products to your bathwater to maximize the benefits for your body and mind (bath salts, essential oils, bubble bath, soap, etc.)
Step 2: Body scrub (once or twice a week)
After a nice, warm bath, your skin will be silky smooth—the best time to exfoliate! Body scrubs restore your skin's radiance by eliminating impurities and stimulating cell renewal.
Use the palm of your hand, a synthetic or loofah glove (for daily use on rougher areas like the knees and elbows) or a soft brush to apply your chosen product. Read the package for the manufacturer's recommendations for body care.
- Massage the skin with vigorous circular motions to create a slight redness. Don't apply too much pressure, which can scratch the skin.
- After exfoliating, shower to remove any remaining product and dead skin.
- To prolong the effects of the treatment, you can replace your body cleanser with a cleansing exfoliator once a week.
Did you know?
All styling products, from hairspray to dry shampoo, leave residue. Exfoliating your scalp is a crucial step in your body care routine. To discover!
Step 3: Moisturize (once or twice a day)
Moisturizing is a simple but very important step in your body care routine! To ensure the treatment is effective, use a product that’s right for your skin type.
- Normal skin: Maintains natural hydration
- Dry or sensitive skin: Moisturizes, soothes itching and tightness, and repairs
- Combination or oily skin: Regulates hydration
Liquid, milk, cream or lotion: the choice of moisturizer is a personal one. Pick the product that suits you best. Its use will be the same:
- Apply the moisturizer to your clean, dry skin once or twice a day, ideally right after a bath or shower.
- Massage the moisturizer into your skin to stimulate your circulation.
Did you know?
Toning lotion is a purifying and energizing product for your face. It restores the skin's pH level after cleansing and prepares your face for other body care treatments.
Step 4: Pedicure (ideally, once a week)
Feet are an often overlooked body part, and should be part of your body care routine. Pamper them, and they will thank you for it!
- Add Epsom salt, coarse salt, bicarbonate of soda or a few drops of mint essential oil to a basin of warm water.
- Soak your feet for at least 15 minutes.
- Use a pumice stone (volcanic rock) or a special file to scrub the hard areas and calluses on the soles of your feet.
- Apply a scrub to the top of your feet and rinse with warm water.
- Follow up with a moisturizer to nourish your skin. This is a great time to give yourself a foot massage and then cut and file your nails.
Important! You don't need to do a full pedicure to take care of your feet. Get into the habit of using a soothing repair cream before going to bed. This daily body care treatment will soften and beautify your feet. Try it!
Step 5: Manicure (ideally, once a week)
A manicure is one of life's little pleasures. You don't need an appointment at the salon to enjoy the benefits of this body care treatment.
- Remove nail polish residue with a cotton ball and nail polish remover.
- Cut and file your nails.
- Prepare a basin of warm water with a little neutral soap, bath salts or lemon juice.
- Soak your hands for at least 10 minutes.
- Apply a gentle scrub to your hands, then rinse with warm water.
- Moisturize your hands with a hand cream.
- Use a wooden manicure stick to push back cuticles and then moisturize.
