Oily skin affects adults, too!
What causes oily skin?
Sebum (oil) is a protective lipid barrier that is naturally produced by skin to defend it from external irritants. When too much sebum is present, it blocks the pores of the skin, creating the perfect breeding ground for bacteria. Once this happens, blackheads and pimples are never far behind!
Its sources…
- Stress
- Fatigue
- Pollution
- The use of the wrong cosmetics for one’s skin type
- Premenstrual period
- The wrong birth control pill
Diet seems to have very little impact on oily skin. The same goes for smoking and alcohol. No scientific study has demonstrated their influence on this skin condition. That being said, you can stack the odds in your favour by adopting a healthy diet, limiting your intake of alcohol and, while you’re at it, quitting smoking!
… and its solutions!
Would you like to solve your recurring oily skin problem? Start with a thorough skin care routine, every day, from now on! This will help you eliminate from the surface of your epidermis all traces of impurities trapped by sebum, as well as tighten dilated pores, reduce the formation of blackhead and clarify your complexion.
- Wash your face with a gentle cleanser, morning and night
- Use moisturizer
- Remove your makeup every day, no exceptions!
- Exfoliate your face, once or twice a week. Use a very gentle scrub to avoid stimulating your skin’s defence mechanisms.
